Refugio Texas
Come for the Fun, Stay for the Life

Refugio County offers many ways to have fun: fishing in both fresh and salt water, birding, boating, kayaking, water skiing, duck hunting, the Aransas Wildlife Refuge, the Fennesey Ranch, country music, historic homes and churches, the rodeo and livestock show, and year-around golf. Refugio County retains the charm of the Old South with mansions built in the 1870s and ranches that started as Spanish land grants. It has been in the center of Texas history as the site of the last frontier Spanish Mission in 1795, through the Irish immigration of the 1830s, and in the fight for Texas Independence. Refugio participates in the current economic picture with a mixture of agriculture and cattle, oil and gas production, and fabrication facilities for modern industry. With the allure of the Coastal Bend, Refugio County is a great place to visit and live.
