2011 Holiday Awards Luncheon - Susan Oliver & Rosemary Vega Honored
We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2011 Kay Wolf/Rob Early Award and the 2011 Barbara Sheppard Award that were announced at the December 14 Holiday Awards Luncheon in Aransas Pass. (Please see attached photos of the recipients.)

Rosemary Vega of the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce was the recipient of the Kay Wolf/Rob Early Award.
Kay Wolf and Rob Early were two people instrumental in founding the Texas Coastal Bend Regional Tourism Council. Kay was President of the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce for 23 years and is currently Assistant City Manager and Planner for the City of Hidalgo. Before he passed away in1997, Rob Early was CEO of the Corpus Christi Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and later CEO of the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay.
This award was established in 1995 for professionals (CVB, Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Center paid staff members) who have gone above and beyond his/her job commitment to make a real difference in community tourism and support for the TCBRTC,

Susan Oliver of the Omni Hotels in Corpus Christi was honored with the 2011 Barbara Sheppard Award. Susan passed away suddenly on September 7, 2011; her husband Darin Oliver of Aransas Pass accepted this award on her behalf.
Barbara Sheppard was a larger-than-life icon in the Coastal Bend tourism industry remembered today for her passion for the environment as well as for the people of South Texas. Before she passed away in 2003, she and her husband were the owners of Fisherman's Wharf, a Port Aransas deep-sea fishing and excursion boat service.
Barbara was also an ex-officio member of the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors and was well known and respected throughout the state with friends in the Texas Legislature as well as the Texas Travel Industry Association. When Barbara spoke, everyone listened.
The award was established in 1995 for the business member or volunteer (non-paid) who has demonstrated exceptional commitments in the tourism industry in his/her community and in support of the TCBRTC.
